WALTER HOYLE

1922 – 2000

LIMITED EDITION PRINT SIGNED IN PENCIL BY THE ARTIST

Walter Hoyle was a watercolourist, printmaker, designer and teacher born in Lancashire. During the 1940s he studied at the Royal College of Art and later with the famous printmaker Edward Bawden. They became close friends and Hoyle later moved to Great Bardfield to live and work alongside Bawden. While teaching at the Cambridge School of Art (1964 -1985) he launched Cambridge Print Editions. His own prints were also  commissioned by Editions Alecto, Christie’s Contemporary Art and the Folio Society. He designed wallpaper and painted a mural for the Natural History Museum.
